3,000 hours and a few tournaments in, including winning the 48H Global Clash, these are the best PVP tips I can give you for Arena Breakout Infinite. Not theory. This is what I learned in the hardest fights.

Short version

  • Crosshair at head height, pre-aim corners.
  • Quick peek for info, don't stay out.
  • Learn your gun's recoil in the shooting range.
  • Stay at full HP and reset after every fight.
  • Fight from cover, reload in cover.
  • Only take fights that are good for you.
  • In a team: trade, play close but not stacked, and keep talking.

Fundamentals

Peeking

Right peek is still stronger, you see them before they see you. Left peek got a lot better in the last patch though, so you're no longer at a real disadvantage using it.

Your best tool is the quick peek. Look, see where they are, pull back. You don't need to stay out and shoot. That information often decides the fight before it starts.

Crosshair placement

Most players look at the floor or the sky while moving. Keep your crosshair at head height and pre-aim corners before you swing. If it's already where their head will be, you just click. If it's on the floor, you have to drag it up, and that half second is your life.

Recoil

Know where your gun pulls and control it. You don't learn that in raids, you learn it in the shooting range. Spray the wall until your hand pulls down on its own.

HP and resetting

Always try to be at full HP. After a fight, stop, heal, sort yourself out. Running into the next fight half dead means you lost it before it started. Resetting isn't cowardice.

Cover and reloads

Never stand in the open during a fight. Move cover to cover and always have something to pull back behind. Reload in cover, not in the open. And if you hear them reload, that's your moment to push.

When to fight

There's still a three-shot meta to the thorax. You can die fast, and so can they. Before every fight ask: is this good for me? Is it good for the team? If not, back off. The best players don't take every fight, they pick the good ones.

Jump shots, grenades, sound

Jump shots are a tool, not a strategy, don't jump every corner blind. If someone is holding a tight angle, throw a grenade or smoke it. And listen: stop for a second and you hear steps, reloads and doors. You know where they are before you see them. Patience is a weapon.

Teamplay

Trading

If a teammate gets knocked, be there to kill whoever knocked them. If you can trade each other, a knock isn't a loss, it's a trade in your favour.

Positioning

Play close, but not stacked. Too close and one grenade takes you both, and you're watching the same angle. The right distance is close enough to trade, far enough to cover different angles. Never die at the same time.

Roles and focus fire

Decide who goes into a room first and who covers behind. If two of you see one enemy, both shoot that one. One fast kill beats two half-damaged enemies shooting back.

Flanks and comms

Flanking is fine, but only if you call it. An uncalled flank that fails is basically one player down in the main fight. Say where you are, what you see and what you're about to do. Silence kills teams.

Asking for help

If you're low or can't hold the angle, say it. The best teams have no ego.
